Skateboarding in Afghanistan

Published by Chris on August 10th, 2009 | Tagged News, Skateboard

Anytime you think you’re town has no spots, or the cops want let you skate, or it’s too cold, or hot or whatever. Quit your bitching. Always know that someone has a worst situation than you. Just saw this on CNN today, about a new program in Afghanistan called Skateistan. It’s founded by Australian Oliver Percovich. He’s trying to create a positive environment for kids to learn how to skateboard and to teach them skills that could possibly keep them from being a terrorist or involved in the drug trade. They’ll be getting a new, larger facility later in the year, and will start offering English and computer classes. That’s pretty cool.
